Teak Doors Hand Crafted

Filed under: General — admin @ 2:02 pm

We are all composite door mad here bit that does not mean we cannot appreciate craftsmanship when it comes to carving doors, in particular hand crafted interior doors for Thailand. I doubt these doors would be  suitable for exterior use due to the British weather and their security would be limited, but the hand carving of these doors are amazing shown on the video, even if you are going to fall asleep before it ends.

If fact many modern hoes would struggle to display these doors even within the home, with older hourse being more appropriate. We wait until the day when they can make composite doors look like this.

Record Searches For Composite Doors

Filed under: General — admin @ 12:16 am

Google has a great tool that allows to record how much certain products were saerched for using the Google search engine over a period of time. It shows astonish progress for the composite door in terms of understanding of the public what they actually were. Last month of Nov saw the highest ever search activity for composite doors proving that as the consumer starts to understand the benefits of composite doors over the tradition upvc of even wooden front doors, they are prepared to pay the extra and even that is negligable in 2009.

What is also interesting is how the rest of the world has not caught on o the benefits. The USA only have 8% of the searches for composite doors that what we do here in the UK, even though the market should be 5 times greater. There may be some slow down now for Christmas and seasonal issues, but there is no doubt in our minds that 2010 will see even greater sales than 2009 with even more searches.

Adding More Composite Doors To The Range

Filed under: General — admin @ 12:54 pm

As if a few billion designs were not enouigh, Global have now added another 5 doors to its range to keep in tune with trends and fashions. These extra 5 composite doors add many combinations to consumer choices, when you consider the different glass designs available for each door and the 7 colour variations, the only downside is that these new doors are not available in wood grain.

The new % door designs are

  • Cottage  Half Glaze Composite Door
  • Circle Composite Door
  • Twin Side Composite Door
  • 4 Square Composite Door
  • 3 Square Composite Door

As if this was enouigh Global Door have gone one stage further and intriduced composite side panels to match the range of composite doors. This may seem an obvious announcement, but in the past all side panels were made as a uPVC door and even though would match in terms of how it looked, the older side panals did not have teh same insulation or strength properties a composite side panel does.

Now you can oder composite side panels at he same time as you door, knowing they will math in appearance and manufacturing properties, giving your decades of usage, though the worst of weather.

Spraying A Front Door

Filed under: repairing — admin @ 12:00 pm

Many modern front doors are now spayed rather than the traditional paint and brush method, especially during the manufacturing process say on composite doors. But occassionaly specialists get asked ot spray existing doors beacause the cutomomer prefers the finiah and wants a certain durability.

This is a video of that process, a company being asked to spray front doors on behalf of their customers. The key is the refinishing process, obviously the door needs to look good and have the type fop finish associated with the spray process rather than the paint and brush. Of course the downside, is the door needs to be reoved and sprayed in a booth, where nornally a front door would be painted on site.

Anyway for now lets look at how they convert a metal door to look like a wooden on in the States.

Dry Fitting A Front Door

Filed under: Fitting — admin @ 10:32 am

Whether you’re fitting a composite door or any other option it should be done professionally or as this clip say, if it isn’t the door will be removed from the house. By dry fitting the door you can check for obstructions or any excess distance between the door and the aperture it is fitting into, before any silicone or securing occurs.

With doors of this nature the frame with door included is fitted to the walls of your house, rather than the tradition door which is often fitted to the frame after the frame has been fitted. The bottom line is, you don’t buy an expensive composite door that can last you a lifetime, but spoil the experience with poor fitting, so only use qualified fitters who will take the time to ensure this door dry fit is to the millimeter. Watch this video and it will show where to look and how it should be done, even if it looks like it has all been prepared for them presentation.

New Door Prices

Filed under: General — admin @ 1:42 pm

When you visit your local DIY store you can often see why a particular door costs the price it does by comparing it with others with the ability to touch and fell the product and physically see the benefits an expensive composite door may offer. However this is not so easy when visiting websites. Of course the picture look good and of course they talk about the benefits, but it is not until identify the weaknesses of a particular door compare it with other can you tell if you are really getting a good deal or not.

A new website is about be launched called composite door prices, with the aim to compare doors and give real advice on why these composite doors costs what they do, or identify when maybe the deal is not so promising.  It then also becomes possible to compare other door types from a cost point of view rather than a decorative or security point of view.

It is early days and there is a lot of information to compile and then to add more price related information to the website. But the idea is good and if they can deliver it will be a good resource for composite door prices on the internet.
