Yale Security Doors

Filed under: General — admin @ 10:17 am

A door for security purposes has liitle value if the locking system does not match the requirements of the door. In the UK there are few names bigger than Yale that supply locks for millions of British home owners and businesses. As composite doors require something more that just a lock and key, Yale have now been manufacturing multi point locks to compliment you new composite door, meaning it is not just the centre of the door that is attatched to the frame, but in several places to make entry extremely hard.

Because the Yale brand is so strong and the composite door market is relatively new without and household names to speak, many see the Yale locking system as the sign of quality to the point, they may as well brand them Yale Doors, to help with any purchase.

It is for certain you will start to see the yale brand even more as the composite door market continues to grow here in the UK.

Brief Guide To Security Composite Doors

Filed under: General — admin @ 2:36 pm

Often what you see can tell you more than what you read, so here is a mini clip explaining the security features of a composite door compared to other types. Doors are coverd with GRP (apparently used on Lotus Esprite car) for added durability. Apparently the term composite doors is very loose and can be used in lots of situtaions, for example steel doors can be called his term. Composite doors are made from heavy materials and is proven by hitting a concrete floor with a piece of the door.

All security hardware is Yale products, this is the same spec as Global Door supply, using yale security also. There are restrictions to your composite door, for example side panels come in one sixe and the inside of your door will be white. Anyway here is the video to find out more about composite doors and your next door.

Teak Doors Hand Crafted

Filed under: General — admin @ 2:02 pm

We are all composite door mad here bit that does not mean we cannot appreciate craftsmanship when it comes to carving doors, in particular hand crafted interior doors for Thailand. I doubt these doors would be  suitable for exterior use due to the British weather and their security would be limited, but the hand carving of these doors are amazing shown on the video, even if you are going to fall asleep before it ends.

If fact many modern hoes would struggle to display these doors even within the home, with older hourse being more appropriate. We wait until the day when they can make composite doors look like this.

Record Searches For Composite Doors

Filed under: General — admin @ 12:16 am

Google has a great tool that allows to record how much certain products were saerched for using the Google search engine over a period of time. It shows astonish progress for the composite door in terms of understanding of the public what they actually were. Last month of Nov saw the highest ever search activity for composite doors proving that as the consumer starts to understand the benefits of composite doors over the tradition upvc of even wooden front doors, they are prepared to pay the extra and even that is negligable in 2009.

What is also interesting is how the rest of the world has not caught on o the benefits. The USA only have 8% of the searches for composite doors that what we do here in the UK, even though the market should be 5 times greater. There may be some slow down now for Christmas and seasonal issues, but there is no doubt in our minds that 2010 will see even greater sales than 2009 with even more searches.

Adding More Composite Doors To The Range

Filed under: General — admin @ 12:54 pm

As if a few billion designs were not enouigh, Global have now added another 5 doors to its range to keep in tune with trends and fashions. These extra 5 composite doors add many combinations to consumer choices, when you consider the different glass designs available for each door and the 7 colour variations, the only downside is that these new doors are not available in wood grain.

The new % door designs are

  • Cottage  Half Glaze Composite Door
  • Circle Composite Door
  • Twin Side Composite Door
  • 4 Square Composite Door
  • 3 Square Composite Door

As if this was enouigh Global Door have gone one stage further and intriduced composite side panels to match the range of composite doors. This may seem an obvious announcement, but in the past all side panels were made as a uPVC door and even though would match in terms of how it looked, the older side panals did not have teh same insulation or strength properties a composite side panel does.

Now you can oder composite side panels at he same time as you door, knowing they will math in appearance and manufacturing properties, giving your decades of usage, though the worst of weather.

Metal To Look Like Wooden Doors

Filed under: General — admin @ 1:40 pm

In the States they like their metal doors, where here back in the UK we are either wood, uPVC or composite, one thinks it is just a matter of time before the Americans convert to composite rather than the UK convert to metal. One reason for metal doors in the States is the heat issues. Wood tends to warp anf UPVC  tends to afde, something that modern composite doors are more hardy to deal with. Anyway for now lets look at how they convert a metal door to look like a wooden on in the States.

New Door Prices

Filed under: General — admin @ 1:42 pm

When you visit your local DIY store you can often see why a particular door costs the price it does by comparing it with others with the ability to touch and fell the product and physically see the benefits an expensive composite door may offer. However this is not so easy when visiting websites. Of course the picture look good and of course they talk about the benefits, but it is not until identify the weaknesses of a particular door compare it with other can you tell if you are really getting a good deal or not.

A new website is about be launched called composite door prices, with the aim to compare doors and give real advice on why these composite doors costs what they do, or identify when maybe the deal is not so promising.  It then also becomes possible to compare other door types from a cost point of view rather than a decorative or security point of view.

It is early days and there is a lot of information to compile and then to add more price related information to the website. But the idea is good and if they can deliver it will be a good resource for composite door prices on the internet.

Global Adds New Additions To Composite Door Range

Filed under: General — admin @ 10:27 am

April and may have seen some new additions to the Global composite door range. First of all. Composite doors can now be order that open outwards. This can be of great benefit to those that have little space and where a door opening into the property affects space and access. The difference between the new door and existing composite doors is hinge system and the dripboard that goes above the door to stop rain entering into the top of the door.

Another 4 designs have been added to the already popular range  with 2 news styles of cottage door with rectangle shaped glass and a 4 door solid because of customer demand and finally a 2 panel 4 square that also has been asked for.  Responding to customer needs and requests has always been a priority for Global door who’s offices are in the North east of England, but who supply composite doors online nationwide.

As well as the new designs there is also a new colour available called golden oak again manufactured to suit customer demand. The online global door designer can show billions of variations when you consider colours, panels, glass, side panels and eventually the actual composite door command.

The hot weather has seem the phones ring to match the crowds visiting DIY stores, it should be no surprise with the designs and prices on offer.

Bumper Bank Holiday

Filed under: General — admin @ 1:57 pm

As we know the time of year for DIY projects is upon us and this Bank Holiday was no exception. There might be a recession on at the moment, but that did not stop the queues at the local B&Q’s as the annual clean up or improve the home routine got into full force.

As the paint came out many had obviously decided they no longer wanted to paint that front door and a new composite option would probably be the solution. Many now use the internet to search for prices and hopefully compare quality also, to ensure they get the right deal.

Many online door suppliers came back from their weekend holiday to find answering machines and online orders stacked up, from consumers in the mood to commit to that front door purchase that has been on the back burner since last autumn. There are other reason too, with many committed to staying n their current home, not being able to trade up as the mortgage applications are still not up to pervious levels. It seems that stay where you are and make better with what you have got is the fashion for 2009.

Of course even if you did decide to move house, a new composite door would surely add value to it and if not at least help with the decision process. Often the front door of a home is the fuirst thing a potential buyer will see and as first impressions are ever lasting, it makes sense to give them a good one. So maybe there is more than one reason to buy a new composite door this spring.

Understanding The Trade

Filed under: General — admin @ 1:23 pm

There can be a huge difference in prices of any new door, whether it is a wood, UPVC or composite door. However not all doors are made to the same specification and there can be a huge difference in price of similar looking doors that can be confusing to the consumer.

Just about everyone ion the trade will say their doors are the best and do the job designed and so you should buy form them. But just by taking a bit of time out and researching the added value of more expensive doors can in the long run save you money.

First of all, looks are important but not in a few years time when your UPVC door has lost colour, or when you wooden door has warped. Take UPVC doors for example; Some are just filled with a polystyrene filling that has little security features. They also can be prone to losing their colour after a few years where the weather has been variable, form sunlight to heavy rain.

Composite doors can be better, not only having stronger insides, including timber frames, the GRP skin can handle discolouring better than UPVC. Again not all composite doors are the same, so you should ensure you know the specification of each door, to know if you have bought quality or not so.

Wooden doors tend to easier to define their quality as you can see what you get. Here the fitting and treatment is essential by a tradesman to ensure the longevity of the door.

The price of doors often relates to the buying ability of the tradesman or retailer you are buying the door from. In better words a one man tradesman will probably not get the better trade price for the door he is buying than an online retailer like Global Door, who buy in bulk and benefit from cheaper cost prices that can be passed on to the consumer.

So to summarise, first realise the quality of the door you intend to buy and understand the specifications. Then shop around using the internet for prices, being especially awar that those who buy more doors from the manufacturers are more likely to offer cheaper prices to the consumer, for the same quality of door.
